Through movement we find health...
Lulu is a music, dance and movement lover. Born and raised in Mexico, she has been dedicated to improving the health and well being of people through fitness for over 20 years.
She is a Nia Green Belt teacher, Personal fitness trainer, presenter and instructor, specialized in third age populations (e.g., Seniors).
Lulu enjoys working in the prevention and management of chronic diseases; in particular: osteoporosis, arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
More recently, Lulu was introduced to Nia through one of her clinical clients and became captivated during her first class. Shortly after, became a Certified Nia Teacher.
She took pleasure in integrating her previous training as a laughter yoga leader with the principles of Nia.
At Confederation Seniors Centre in Burnaby, Lulu has been the wellness program coordinator since 2004. This is a position she loves due to the personal growth that she has gained in the fields of health and wellness and through working with program participants. It was at this Centre, that Lulu met one of her mentors, Doreen Player, who has been one of the pioneers of senior fitness in British Columbia and in Canada, for over a quarter of a century.
Another of Lulu's mentors is Info Fit's Andre Noel Potvin, who taught her clinical population fitness management. With Andre, she gained a strong background in exercise prescription for high-risk populations.
On the dance floor, Salsa and Cha cha were Lulu's favorites dances for many years; however today, she learns and practices Argentine Tango as a way to incorporate new expressions of movement.
Lulu has been a member of Rocky Point Toastmasters. She loves the nexus of Nia's expression and body language.
At present, Lulu lives with her family in Port Moody. She loves to teach, dance and integrate the Nia technique in to her life.
